Facilitates eye care for senior US citizens or legal residents who are without an Eye MD and who do not belong to an HMO or do not have eye care coverage through the VA and who have not seen an opthamologist in three or more years.    Callers will be directed to the online referral center at www. eyecareamerica.org. Eligibility will be determined immediately after completion of online questionnaire and a confirmation letter will be sent within 1 - 2 weeks with information of the volunteer opthamologist who will provide services. Eligible seniors are then asked to make the appointment with the Eye MD. Opthamologist will waive co-payments, accepting Medicare and/or other insurance reimbursement as payment in full. Individuals (any age) determined to be at increased risk or glaucoma (by age, race and family history) may be eligible to receive a free glaucoma eye exam if they are uninsured.

No fee for the uninsured. Volunteer opthamologist will accept Medicare or other insurance as payment in full.
