SN ONLY/Provides information on the McKay Scholarship Program. Under the program, a parent of a special needs student who is dissatisfied with the student's current school may choose to transfer the student to another public school or receive a scholarship to attend a private school (religious or non-religious). Must be a disabled student in Florida who has been in public school for at least one year. The scholarship is good for the amount the public school would have spent on that student, or the total tuition and fees of the private school, whichever is less. Schools are permitted to charge students in the McKay program above the amount of their scholarships. Parents are responsible for selecting the participating private school and applying for the student's admission to the private school.
